This study explores the use of polycaprolactone diol (PCLD) as a polymeric viscosity modifier in epoxy composites containing high loadings of thermally conductive fillers. Unlike conventional diluents, PCLD offers structural flexibility and good miscibility with epoxy, enabling effective viscosity reduction without sacrificing compatibility.
Epoxy composites were prepared by blending YD-128 resin with 0–10 wt% PCLD and adding 1 μm alumina fillers in the range of 0–50 vol%. Further analysis of viscosity, thermal conductivity, and thermal stability (TGA) is underway.
PCLD is expected to improve flow behavior and filler dispersion by reducing chain entanglement, thereby enhancing the processability of highly filled epoxy systems. This approach suggests a polymer-based strategy for developing thermal interface materials without relying on low-molecular-weight additives.
