Polyethylene glycol (PEG) is an attractive polymer applied in various fields based on its versatility including thermal stability, flexibility, and eco-friendliness. meanwhile, liquid crystal polymers (LCP) have the potential as various functional materials based on self-assembly properties based on intermolecular interactions. In this study, PEG based LCP was synthesized by anionic ring opening polymerization of epoxide. In particular, the effect of alkyl-tail was investigated on the molecular orientation and physical properties by adjusting the length of the alkyl-tail length. The orientation properties were investigated by POM and XRD, and thermal properties were investigated by DSC, TGA and thermal conductivity measurements. The results demonstrate that the control of the mesogenic architecture can effectively guide the design of self-assembled polymer systems for improved thermal properties.
