내용
The development of bio-based diols has garnered increasing attention as sustainable alternatives to fossil-based monomers to control carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions. However, most commercial bio-based alcohols have been limited to soft segments of polymers, restricting their broader application in engineering materials. In this study, we report a novel strategy to overcome this limitation by synthesizing a bio-based monomer featuring a cyclic acetal functional group. This monomer was derived from renewable resources and designed to exhibit potential biodegradability and chemical recyclability. A series of polymerization reactions was conducted to incorporate the monomer into various polymer backbones, to explore its structure–property relationships and application feasibility. This work proposes a new approach to utilizing bio-based monomers by integrating functionality and sustainability, offering promising directions for next-generation eco-friendly polymer materials.
