To address the electrochemical limitations of PTFE in dry-processed graphite anodes, we propose a hybrid binder system incorporating carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) as a polymer co-binder. Ethanol-assisted dry mixing enables homogeneous dispersion of CMC within the composite without solvent recovery or thermal drying. Systematic variation of CMC content reveals that 1 wt% CMC (HGE-1) optimizes the trade-off between mechanical integrity and ionic transport. The hybrid electrode exhibits higher initial Coulombic efficiency, improved rate capability, and superior cycling stability compared to PTFE-only systems. These enhancements stem from the polymeric characteristics of CMC, which facilitate Li⁺ diffusion, enhance interfacial adhesion, and suppress PTFE–graphite aggregation.
