We propose a spatial engineering strategy to improve lithium-ion hybrid capacitor (LHC) performance by integrating the conducting polymer PEDOT into graphene–MoS(GM) heterostructured electrodes. PEDOT was incorporated in two forms: a 3D embedded network (N-PGM) via vapor-phase polymerization and a 2D surface coating (L-PGM) applied at the final step. These configurations modulated surface capacitive effects and MoS2 redox behavior. L-PGM exhibited the highest capacity and cycling stability (95.3% after 2000 cycles), while N-PGM showed better rate capability due to enhanced ion transport. Molecular dynamics simulations revealed that PEDOT reduced Li+ binding energy and improved ion mobility. PEDOT positioning affected ion transport, with surface coating enhancing diffusion and embedding balancing accessibility. These findings highlight polymer configuration as a key factor in optimizing charge storage and transport in nanostructured electrodes.
