Optical information encryption technologies that respond to external stimuli such as moisture, light or chemical triggers are essential for advanced applications, including smart windows and color displays. While UV-responsive encryption methods have attracted increasing attention due to their intuitiveness and broad applicability, existing systems based on molybdate and tungstate suffer from slow response, which constrain their suitability for information display.
In this study, we introduce spiropyran-based photochromic organogels that exhibit rapid color fading and reversible responsiveness to external stimuli. Multi-level photopatterning was also achieved via photolithography. Additionally, the organogel surfaces exhibit water contact angle hysteresis below 5°, indicating high slipperiness. We envision that the multi-level photopatterned slippery organogel films presented in this work hold great potential in physically unclonable functions and advanced information encryption.
