Flexible and lightweight supercapacitors for wearable electronics is a focus of ongoing research that utilizes cotton fabric(CF) made of cellulose, which is treated with 2-methylimidazole (2MI) to facilitate the growth of Zn-zeolitic imidazolate framework (ZIF) nanoplates. The growth durations are varied at 3, 6, and 12 hours to promote the formation of two-dimensional nanoplates over the surface of the CF by adjusting Zn -to-2MI ratio. Subsequently, the carbonization of Zn-ZIF-decorated CF at 750 °C in an argon atmosphere resulted in a ZnO-wrapped carbon matrix. The electrochemical performance of optimized 6 hours sample exhibits a capacitance of 801 mF cm–2 at a current density of 1 mA cm–2, along with an energy density of 111.3 μWh cm–2 at a power density of 2 mW cm–2. Long-term testing shows a capacitance retention of 91% after 10,000 charge-discharge cycles, depicting potential energy storage device.
