As industrialization progresses, the concentration of harmful gases in the atmosphere continues to increase. These toxic gases can cause serious damage to both human health and the environment, making the development of real-time gas detection technologies essential. In this study, we fabricated organic gas sensors by blending poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT) with activated carbon, which has strong gas adsorption capability. Activated carbons with different surface areas were prepared by controlling the carbonization time and were blended with P3HT to form sensing layers. Compared to pristine P3HT sensors, the activated carbon/P3HT hybrid sensors exhibited higher responsivity and sensitivity to NO₂ gas. Notably, the sensor performance improved with increasing surface area of the blended activated carbon. These results demonstrate that biomass-derived activated carbon effectively enhances the gas sensing performance of organic sensors.
