This work explores the fabrication of electrochromic devices incorporating WO₃ and NiO layers, utilizing gel polymer electrolytes formed directly within the device through UV curing. The electrolyte system is composed of poly(ethylene glycol) methyl ether methacrylate (PEGMEMA) as the monomer and poly(ethylene glycol) dimethacrylate (PEGDMA) as the crosslinker. By systematically varying the monomer-to-crosslinker proportions, their influence on device performance metrics-including optical contrast, switching speed, and ionic conductivity-was evaluated. Optimal results were achieved at a 10:1 ratio, balancing the polymer network's density to maximize ion transport without compromising structural stability. These findings emphasize the necessity of fine-tuning crosslinker concentration to produce efficient and durable gel polymer electrolytes suitable for applications like smart eyewear electrochromic devices.
