Covalent organic frameworks (COFs) are promising solid-state electrolytes (SSEs) due to their ordered 1D channels that facilitate ion transport. However, the presence of C=N groups can hinder performance by enabling lithium ion storage within the framework. To overcome this limitation, we introduce metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) into COFs to form a MOF-in-COF (MC) hybrid structure. This integration optimizes pore environments and enhances compatibility with ionic liquid (IL), creating efficient lithium-ion pathways. The resulting IL-incorporated MC (IL@MC) electrolyte exhibits a high ionic conductivity of 1.5 × 10⁻³ S cm⁻¹ at room temperature and a lithium-ion transference number of 0.26 at 60 °C. The improvement arises from MOF functionalization, which acts as selective gates for cation transport within the COF matrix.
