Specific metal ions that can be utilized as energy resources are dissolved in seawater, interest in adsorbents for their extraction is increasing. Among various adsorbents, amidoxime-based nanofibers are considered as the most promising adsorbents because of their robust selectivity, specific surface area, and low cost. This study aims to introduce porosity on the surface of nanofibers. High specific surface area increases the contact of the nanofibers with seawater and mesopore facilitate ion diffusion. Porous nanofibers were fabricated via electrospinning of poly(acrylonitrile-co-methyl acrylate) with a sacrificial agent, followed by the removal of sacrificial phase. Then, reacted with a hydroxylamine solution to convert the cyano group to amidoxime group. The adsorption performance of the porous nanofibers was investigated as initial concentration, adsorption time, and pH. In addition, the adsorption mechanism was investigated by fitting to kinetics and isotherm models.
