Metallic glass, an amorphous metal alloy with a disordered atomic structure, offers high strength and corrosion resistance but suffers from brittleness under mechanical stress. We developed a multilayer electrode by alternately depositing aluminum (Al) and metallic glass thin films via sputtering. This structure distributes strain across multiple interfaces, enhancing mechanical flexibility and durability. The strain sensor based on this structure exhibited excellent linearity, attributed to the multilayer design that allows Al-metallic glass films to better withstand strain, and enhance the overall working range of strain sensor device. Additionally, suppressed interfacial reactions enhanced chemical resistance and biocompatibility. Furthermore, this research demonstrates that the proposed electrode is applicable not only to strain sensors but also to organic photovoltaic devices, offering enhanced mechanical stability and durability.
