Flexible light-emitting components are crucial for wearable electronics. This overview outlines material and structural strategies for developing quantum dot (QD)-based light sources with mechanical adaptability. An ultra-thin layer design is introduced to reduce bending stress, enhancing flexibility. By applying ~1.0 µm thick parylene and epoxy coatings, we fabricate QLEDs that endure repeated deformation and conform to skin. This approach is compatible with various emitters, including CdSe and perovskite QDs. We also present a stretchable emissive platform composed of colloidal QDs, an elastic matrix, and a conductive polymer. This composite maintains luminescence under 50% strain, showing strong potential for soft displays and wearable optoelectronics.
