Organic electrochemical transistors (OECTs) have emerged as promising candidates for neuromorphic devices capable of exhibiting synaptic properties such as long-term retention. While previous studies have primarily focused on improving synaptic behavior through morphological optimization at the electrolyte/semiconductor interface, systematic investigations into the correlation between charge carrier mobility in the conjugated backbone and synaptic performance remain limited. Here, we propose an effective molecular design strategy that enhances both charge transport and synaptic retention characteristics by modulating the conjugated backbone. This approach provides new insights into structure–transport–function coupling in organic synaptic devices and offers a viable path toward the development of robust, nonvolatile neuromorphic components.
