Precise long-term monitoring of plant physiology is essential in smart agriculture for optimizing plant health and predicting yields. However, conventional rigid sensors can disturb plant structure and function, limiting their use to short-term or species-specific applications. To address this, we present an electronic plant arrow (EPA)—a substrate-free, injectable electrode made from photo-crosslinked gelatin methacryloyl (GelMA). GelMA provides biocompatibility, tunable stiffness, and low impedance. The EPA is stiff when dry for insertion but softens upon absorbing moisture, reducing tissue damage and improving contact stability. Its arrowhead shape ensures firm attachment, while the substrate-free design minimizes interference with growth. This system allows continuous, organ-specific physiological monitoring, supporting precision agriculture and real-time crop management.
