Polysiloxanes containing methacrylate and various organic substituents can remain in a resin state at room temperature and form transparent, hard, glassy thin films through UV curing. In this study, a new ternary synthesis system was proposed by introducing trimethoxymethylsilane into the previous binary system composed of 3-trimethoxysilylpropyl methacrylate and dimethoxysilane. The incorporation of a non-bulky molecule promoted the formation of a more compact network structure, leading to enhanced thermal stability and hardness in the resulting glassy thin films.
These results demonstrate that the mechanical and optical properties of polysiloxane films can be effectively tuned through compositional control, suggesting a meaningful design strategy for the development of high-performance silicone-based thin film materials.
