Planar interdigitated micro-supercapacitors (MSCs) are attracting attention as energy storage platforms that are compatible with compact, integratable electronics. This study investigates the redox behavior of 1,1′-bis(4-vinylbenzyl)-4,4′-bipyridinium dihexafluorophosphate (EV(PF₆)₂), also known as an ethyl viologen, in laser-patterned planar MSCs with controlled electrode spacing. Due to its bulky structure and strong affinity for electrode surfaces, EV(PF₆)₂ may exhibit stable and localized redox activity relatively unaffected by the electric field effects often encountered in devices with closely spaced electrodes. This surface-oriented reaction pathway likely reduces ion diffusion constraints and mitigates field-induced interference. These results suggest that EV(PF₆)₂ is well-suited for the design of structurally stable and electrochemically reliable MSCs, offering a viable strategy for miniaturized energy storage systems
