Polymer-based piezoelectric materials are highly valued for their flexibility and durability. However, their inherent piezoelectric performance is substantially lower than that of ceramic-based inorganic piezoelectric materials. In this study, we investigate the fabrication of hierarchical porous formation in P(VDF-TrFE) fibers with emulsion templating process using amphiphilic poly(acrylic acid) copolymer. We particularly focus on enhancing the piezoelectric response via the stress concentration and decrease of dielectric constant.
This approach not only enables significant improvement in the piezoelectric effect by promoting condensation of stress but also emphasizes the simplicity and cost-effectiveness of producing non-aqueous mini emulsions without resorting to the complex synthesis of block copolymers. The results suggest that the optimized porous fiber design holds promise for a wide range of advanced applications.
