Flake-type bioresorbable hemostats are promising for controlling bleeding in narrow or irregular wounds due to their conformability and ease of use. Here, we developed adhesive hemostatic flakes composed of calcium alginate, starch, and interpenetrating ionic networks of polyacrylamide and poly(acrylic acid). Unlike conventional powders that detach easily under blood flow, this flake structure enhances wound adhesion and hemostatic function. We evaluated morphology, chemical properties, fluid uptake, coagulation ability, adhesion force, cytocompatibility, and in vivo bioresorption. The flakes exhibited higher tissue adhesion (−0.67 ± 0.06 N) and faster hemostasis (36 ± 5 s) than a commercial powder (Arista™ AH) in a rat liver hemorrhage model. These results demonstrate that this polymer-based flake system provides an effective and biocompatible solution for rapid hemostasis, suggesting strong potential for clinical use.
