Two‑Component TPU Solution‑Cast Films for Secondary Battery Sealing Tapes: Mechanical Properties and Swelling Ratio Evaluation

Two‑component thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) films were prepared via solution casting using a resin–hardener system for application in secondary battery sealing tapes. Mechanical performance was evaluated by measuring tensile strength, and elongation at break, while swelling ratio (SR) tests in electrolyte solvents assessed dimensional stability and solvent resistance. FTIR analysis confirmed curing efficiency and residual isocyanate groups, and SEM observations revealed the film morphology. Results showed that optimized resin–hardener ratios provided TPU films with balanced tensile properties and controlled swelling behavior, demonstrating their suitability for sealing tape applications in lithium‑ion batteries. This work highlights the structure–property relationships of solution‑processed TPU films and their potential as reliable sealing materials for energy storage devices.
