The optical properties of mechanical quenching (MQ) and mechanoluminescence (ML) offer promising potential for advanced photonic applications. We designed MQ particles (MQPs) and developed a wearable, rewritable photonic film as a communication platform for dark or underwater environments. The films displayed strong MQ along handwritten patterns under mechanical pressure, which could be erased by short ultraviolet irradiation, ensuring reusability. Reproducible MQ and ML responses revealed their correlation and provided insights into underlying mechanisms. The films showed high humidity resistance and retained rewritable capability underwater for extended periods. Furthermore, we demonstrated on-skin applicability by writing and erasing on a human hand, validating their potential as wearable photonic skins. This study highlights mechano-optical conversion as a strategy for developing innovative photonic materials with versatile applications.
