Functional dielectric polymer with improved dielectric polarization for high-performance energy-harvesting devices

Abstract
Polymer dielectric composites have been utilized to fabricate triboelectric nanogenerators, which have recently found application in haptic devices. Based on the triboelectric effect and electrostatic induction, nanogenerators composed of polymer dielectric composites have been developed; however, their output performance remains poor due to the low dielectric constants of conventional polymers. Engineering dielectric nanostructures enhances dielectric polarization, improving device performance and increasing sensitivity to external stimuli. Here, we present a rational design of polymer nanostructured dielectric composites to boost the output of self‑powered, multifunctional triboelectric nanogenerators. This polymer‑engineering approach establishes a versatile platform for next‑generation multifunctional TENGs in tactile sensing and energy harvesting.
