Abstract

This study presents the development of a bio-based polymer electrolyte utilizing oleic acid, a natural fatty acid, for pursuing sustainable and eco-friendly energy storage solutions. Oleic acid, a renewable and biodegradable resource, was developed considering its eco-friendly advantages as an electrolyte and the stability of the polymer electrolyte. Lithium epoxidized fluorosulfonylamide oleic acid (LiEFSOA) was synthesized by functionalizing lithiated oleic acid with fluorosulfonyl isocyanate and then epoxidizing it. The solid polymer electrolyte with improved interfacial compatibility and ionic conductivity was obtained through in situ thermal polymerization. The structural, thermal, and electrical properties of the resulting material were characterized by FT-IR spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). This eco-friendly approach demonstrates the potential of utilizing eco-friendly materials in lithium battery technology.
