Abstract
Conductive polymers have attracted significant attention for gas sensing due to their tunable physicochemical properties, ease of functionalization, and compatibility with flexible substrates. In this study, we report a room-temperature NH₃ gas sensor based on polyaniline (PANI)-modified Mo₂TiC₂ MXene, where PANI serves not only as a selective NH₃ receptor but also as a stable conductive matrix. The synergy between PANI and MXene yields enhanced charge transport and gas adsorption, resulting in a 52-fold increase in NH₃ sensitivity over pristine MXene. The composite sensor exhibited a 57.8% response to 100ppm NH₃ under humid conditions. For wearable integration, we fabricated flexible electrodes via spray-coating Ti₃C₂ MXene followed by drop-casting the PANI-Mo₂TiC₂ composite layer. The device demonstrated high sensitivity and retained long-term stability for over 120 days, highlighting the potential of polymer–MXene hybrids for next-generation flexible gas sensing technologies.
