Abstract
There is a growing demand for separation technologies to recover lithium (Li) from industrial and natural resources. Among these, nanofiltration (NF) membranes have gained attention owing to their energy efficiency and ion selectivity. However, conventional Li-selective NF membranes based on semi-aromatic polyamide (PA) often suffer from poor acid resistance, while fully aromatic PA membranes offer stability but exhibit low performance and selectivity. This study presents a fully aromatic PA NF membrane fabricated by a combination of two PA-loosening strategies. The resultant membrane exhibited high Li selectivity and exceptional water permeance under both single- and mixed-salt conditions. Furthermore, it maintained excellent acid resistance and long-term stability. Our approach offers a simple yet powerful route to develop high-performance, acid-stable NF membranes applicable to Li recovery and other industrial separations.
