Abstract
Organic electrochemical transistors (OECTs) combine high sensitivity, biocompatibility, and ion–electron coupling, making them ideal for biosensing. Yet, planar formats struggle with miniaturization for implantable use due to noise and mechanical mismatch.
In this study, we introduce fiber-integrated OECTs patterned onto 200 µm fibers via photolithography for minimally invasive glucose monitoring in plants. PEDOT:PSS channels enhanced redox sensitivity and reduced impedance, yielding high transconductance (>19 mS) and excellent SNR.
This platform outperforms conventional sensors by offering superior spatial resolution, lower invasiveness, and improved integration with plant tissues, enabling real-time in vivo monitoring for plant research and smart agriculture.
