Abstract

Flexible electroluminescent devices are essential for wearable electronics and soft robotics, but conventional fabrication limits design complexity and customization. We demonstrate direct ink writing (DIW) 3D printing of stretchable EL devices using three co-printable functional inks. Our ionic hydrogel electrode, crosslinked with Pluronic F-127 dimethacrylate (FDMA), offers high ionic conductivity, transparency, and stretchability. The electroluminescent ink, based on a UV-curable silicone matrix with embedded phosphors, provides stable brightness at low voltages. Fully 3D-printed devices retain consistent luminance under deformation and show reliable operation through repeated stretch-release cycles. This method enables rapid prototyping of complex 3D geometries, including curved displays and embedded lighting patterns hard to achieve with conventional methods. The platform supports customizable manufacturing for next-generation wearable optoelectronics and human-machine interfaces.
