Abstract
Asynchronous optical control provides a powerful means to reduce signal interference in multimodal sensing. We report a self-assembled photonic material based on block copolymer (BCP) photonic crystals doped with aggregation-induced emission luminogens (AIEgens), which enables decoupled fluorescence (FL) and structural color (SC) responses. In the dry state, the material shows bright FL without SC, while solvent-induced swelling quenches FL and reveals vivid SC. This reversible switching allows for selective detection: FL for sensing temperature and nitroaromatic compounds, and SC for monitoring pH. The independent modulation of optical signals enhances reliability in multisignal detection. Furthermore, the orthogonal behavior enables a three-level optical encryption platform, encoding quaternary information via SC, FL, and pH-responsive SC. This system offers a robust, write-once-read-many strategy for secure data storage and anti-counterfeiting technologies.
