Abstract
Chemical doping is widely employed to enhance the electrical and thermoelectric (TE) properties of conjugated polymers (CPs), but preserving crystallinity and morphological stability is essential to attain high performance of TE. In this study, we propose a molecular design strategy involving the incorporation of chlorine (Cl) atoms into the polymer backbone to enhance the crystallinity of the isoindigo-based CPs and simultaneously suppress structural disorder following chemical doping. Nanostructural and morphological analyses revealed that Cl-substitution improved molecular ordering in the pristine film and contributed to the preservation of the crystalline structure upon doping. As a result, the Cl-substituted CP exhibited a high electrical conductivity of 119 S cm-1 and a power factor of 93.2 μW m⁻¹ K⁻² by the structural stability in the doped state providing continuous charge transport pathways.
