Abstract

Recently, it has been demonstrated that when the charge carrier propagates through the chiral materials, its spin state can be controlled by the inherent helical field in chiral materials, which is called chirality-induced spin selectivity (CISS effect). Due to the intrinsic spin control capability of chiral materials, the formation of intermediate chemical species from the spin-unparalleled intermediate radical can be effectively suppressed during the energy conversion process without an external magnetic field.
Herein, based on the in-depth understanding of chirality transfer phenomena in a new type of chiral perovskites, we successfully demonstrated spin-controlled chemical energy conversion devices. The first experimental demonstration of a chiral perovskite as a spin-controlled layer in an oxygen evolution device with a sandwich configuration allows us to fully exploit the potential of chiral materials in water-splitting applications.
