Abstract

Molecular recognition between cells and the extracellular matrix plays a fundamental role in tissue development, repair, and regeneration. Engineering biomimetic surfaces that guide these interactions offers promising strategies in regenerative medicine. We develop lithographically patterned collagen-interpenetrated polymer (CIP) films to mimic native matrix architecture and modulate cell adhesion. The CIP films are fabricated via soft lithography using a PDMS mold and UV-initiated polymerization, resulting in well-defined microstripe patterns. Surface characterization using AFM, SEM, and FT-IR confirms successful pattern formation and collagen integration. Collagen adsorption and NIH/3T3 fibroblast assays show preferential adhesion and guided migration along CIP domains. This platform serves as a tunable wound healing interface that promotes accelerated tissue repair by spatially directing cell–material interactions.
