Thermal and Electrochemical Properties of Alicyclic Polyimide based Solid Polymer Electrolyte

Abstract

Research on all-solid-state batteries that substitute liquid electrolytes with solid electrolytes is being actively conducted to achieve high energy density and high capacity of lithium secondary battery. However, solid polymer electrolytes should not only improve ionic conductivity, but also be stable at high temperature and high voltage, and have mechanical stability capable of withstanding external forces. Therefore, in this study, polyimide with excellent thermal stability and mechanical durability was introduced as a matrix for solid polymer electrolyte. At this time, in order to alleviate the strong inter-chain interaction of polyimide, alicyclic polyimide with alicyclic ring was synthesized to compare the thermal property and mechanical stability with aromatic polyimide. The thermal stability and ionic conductivity of the alicyclic polyimide were evaluated.
