Abstract
Herein, we report a PVP-assisted synthesis of carbon-doped double-shell hollow black TiO2 (c-HB-TiO2) for durable and high-rate lithium-ion battery (LIB) anodes. Polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) supports the hierarchical morphology and promotes uniform carbon doping during thermal treatment. This design strategy enhances lithium-ion transport via engineered oxygen vacancies, shortened diffusion paths, and interconnected porosity. Electrochemical characterization reveals that the c-HB-TiO2-based anode achieves a high reversible capacity of 177.7 mAh g−1 at 1 C and 94.5% retention over 300 cycles. Additionally, the anode showed reduced charge-transfer resistance and a high diffusion coefficient of 1.69×10−10 cm2 s−1. These findings demonstrate the effectiveness of PVP-assisted morphology engineering in developing advanced dblack TiO2 anodes for next-generation LIBs.
