Abstract

With the growing demand for energy storage devices, the development of high-energy-density batteries has become essential. However, current battery systems face critical limitations such as the low theoretical capacity of conventional anodes and the fire hazards associated with liquid electrolytes. To overcome these challenges, lithium metal is considered a promising anode due to its high theoretical capacity, and solid-state electrolytes are being actively investigated for improved safety and stability.
In our study, we aimed to enhance the mechanical strength, ionic conductivity, and interfacial adhesion of polymer-based solid electrolytes by introducing diazide crosslinking and a direct solution-coating process. A diazide crosslinker was used to simultaneously cure both PVDF-HFP and the plasticizer via C–H insertion, which reduced crystallinity and increased the amorphous phase, thereby improving ion transport. Coating the electrolyte in its solution state also enhanced interfacial contact with both the lithium metal anode and the cathode.
