Abstract

Conjugated polymers have attracted attention as key materials for advanced thermoelectric (TE) devices, owing to their lightweight and flexibility. As one of the performance parameters of TE materials, power factor (PF) is defined by PF=S2σ (S and σ are Seebeck coefficient and electrical conductivity). However, single conjugated polymers generally face a limitation in terms of high PF, since the S-σ trade-off relationship make difficult to achieve the simultaneous enhancement in both of S and σ.
In this study, two polymers with relatively high S and σ, respectively, were blended to achieve the concurrent enhancement in both of S and σ. To obtain insight into the polymer blends, not only the TE performance, but also the optical, morphological, and structural properties of polymer blend films with various blend ratio was investigated. As a result, through efficient charge transport channels, the polymer blend exhibited ~100% enhanced PF compared to single polymer
