Abstract

Perovskite quantum dots are promising for next-generation lighting due to their superior color purity and emission tunability. However, their limited mechanical stretchability restricts their use in stretchable optoelectronics, especially wearable displays and biophotonic healthcare devices. We report the first intrinsically stretchable light-emitting diodes made by embedding bright perovskite quantum dots within a soft semiconducting matrix through advanced heterostructure engineering. Transmission electron microscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and photophysical analyses confirm strong structural, chemical, and electronic coupling between the quantum dots and matrix. These LEDs maintain stable, spectrally pure electroluminescence (FWHM: 19 nm) even under strains up to 125%, enabling seamless operation on bent surfaces such as the human wrist. This approach opens new opportunities for stretchable perovskite quantum dot LEDs in wearable biophotonic applications.
