Abstract
Polyurethanes (PU) rank among the 6th most widely produced polymers globally, owing to their versatile properties and broad applicability across various industries. However, increasing concerns regarding their environmental impact and recyclability have prompted the development of strategies aimed at improving the sustainability of PU materials. Among these approaches, bio-based solutions derived from renewable feedstocks have gained attention as viable alternatives, offering significant reductions in greenhouse gas emissions and enhanced mechanical performance. This study aims to elucidate the unique physicochemical characteristics of the ether-based bio-polyol, polytrimethylene ether glycol (PO3G), and to evaluate its current commercialization status as a sustainable alternative within the polyurethane industry.
