Abstract
Modern physics has progressed through the pursuit of understanding extreme conditions—relativity for fast motion, quantum mechanics for small scales, and their unification in quantum electrodynamics (QED). Strong-field QED, which explores particle behavior in ultra-intense electromagnetic fields, remains a frontier in both theory and experiment. At the Center for Relativistic Laser Science (CoReLS), we develop petawatt-class lasers and perform laser-plasma experiments to study high-energy particles and radiation, aiming to probe strong-field QED effects. Despite technological challenges, this research holds promise for revealing new physical phenomena and deepening our understanding of matter and light under extreme electromagnetic conditions.
