Abstract

In 2024, global publication trends in chemistry, materials science, and energy research exhibited dynamic growth and increasing interdisciplinarity. This presentation explores South Korea’s expanding role as a global research leader, with a particular emphasis on its contributions to polymer science and related fields. Based on data from ACS Publications and global research databases, South Korea ranks among the top contributors to high-impact publications, especially in catalysis, sustainable energy, and advanced materials. The top 20 chemistry topics from South Korea reveal a strategic shift toward applied research in electrochemistry, nanotechnology, and polymer-integrated materials. These insights provide a data-driven foundation for shaping national research funding strategies, aligning with global scientific priorities, and reinforcing Korea’s leadership in polymer and materials innovation.
