The rapid depletion of global freshwater resources has increased the demand for sustainable and energy-efficient desalination technologies. Although solar-driven interfacial evaporation is environmentally friendly, its application is limited by low evaporation efficiency and salt accumulation. Here, we present a structurally engineered solar-driven desalination filter to overcome these challenges. The filter features alternating hydrophilic and hydrophobic segments that enable efficient water transport, continuous operation, and improved salt resistance. A sandwich-type architecture is introduced to enhance thermal transfer from the thermally conductive hydrophobic layer to the hydrophilic evaporation layer, improving heat localization and evaporation kinetics. As a result, the filter achieves high evaporation efficiency within a short time, demonstrating the potential of structural engineering for advanced solar desalination systems.
