Single-coated optical thin films (S-OTFs) are fabricated through a shear-coating process followed by topochemical polymerization of host–guest chromophores. Self-assembly-driven charge transfer in diacetylene-functionalized bipyridinium complexes activates multichroism. The resulting molecular packing structure exhibits biaxial anisotropic absorption with orthogonally oriented absorption axes, enabling color tuning through precise control of the incident polarization angle. This platform provides opportunities for anticounterfeiting technologies, polarization-based optical encryption, and advanced multiplex display systems.
