We investigate the impact of energetic disorder on voltage loss in non-halogenated OPVs. Using a layer-by-layer (LbL) strategy, the incorporation of PM6 induced a preferred face-on orientation and favorable vertical phase separation in the D18 layer, as evidenced by GIWAXS. This structural ordering effectively reduces energetic disorder, thereby minimizing carrier trapping associated with tail states. Transient photovoltage and photocurrent analyses confirm that suppressing these tail states restricts charge recombination and prolongs carrier lifetimes. Consequently, our findings identify that optimizing donor orientation via LbL processing is essential for mitigating voltage loss caused by energetic disorder.
